Creative Rebranding: Swap Social

September-October 2023

In a collaborative industry brief for Birmingham City University's sustainable fashion initiative, Swap Social, our team were asked to rebrand the start-up.

As appointed art director of the group, my role involved spearheading the creation of comprehensive brand guidelines for our elevated version of Swap Social. Tasked with aligning brand assets with the brand's distinctive aesthetic, my responsibilities extended to communicating the brand identity through innovative design solutions.

To ensure cohesion and consistency across all brand visuals, I crafted brand assets that seamlessly integrated with Swap Social's vision, values, and aims. My contribution extended beyond the aesthetic realm, actively participating in shaping the brand elevation strategy. Leveraging consumer feedback, I played a role in informing design iterations, ensuring the brand resonated effectively with its target audience.

As we collectively developed a promotional marketing strategy for internal and external events, my focus on generating brand guidelines facilitated a unified visual language.

Designing Swap Social's new logo, colour palette and aesthetic was key in making the brand visually distinctive. I also worked to design interactive product tags, and custom clothing to be sold at Swap Social events. Combined with a 'Sustainable Passport' and Pop-up Exhibition Kit, our team were able to re-establish the brand as an elevated, dynamic and contemporary player in the sustainable fashion landscape, aiding with the removal of negative connotations associated with second hand shopping.
